FANTASTIC!! Thus Luis and Vero describe this experience, as well as brief, rewarding, wonderful, free, repeatable, advisable… jejejej thus it is, they really liked this trip. The unique negative thing, that the trip only lasted a month. There we go!! Vero left written in her diary the fifth of July 2010, much more optimistic one that the past year. What they did not know is that the little trip was going to like them so much that would be a springboard for the great adventure in which they would embark later.
They decided to go to Switzerland, to the classic style, from house, slow but steady, and it worked. The result went 15 cycling to arrive, about 100 km per day, and a forest with giant trees received them to their arrival to Switzerland. It is necessary to say that Switzerland, is wonderful because of its natural beauty, but France, is a country that was able to left them speechless.
In this occasion, they decided to take the tent, what was a real good decision since they went cycling by alpine landscape and they always encamped in green places, apart from the intense dew and rains which would have been a bad fellow traveller if they did not have been under cover.
The way had stages with very strong ascents since the high ports abounded, compensated with slopes really longs which means many kilometers given and saturated with precious green landscapes, enormous valleys and small villages where they were able to stop to buy delicious craft bread and milk.
Until the French border, they passed much heat, sometimes even having to walk instead of cycling by the Ardisa zone, the Pedrosas, Ayerbe, Biescas… Oh, the uphill that is after passing Biescas is memorable at the 19:00 pm. The Portalet, last port before arriving at France, last effort and… voila! Vero had until blisters in her head because of the heat and the sun shining above them.
The great trip surprise, the heat that was when they crossed the border!! That is possible to be palliated with rests, water, dips under fountains and French fresh cheese. The best part of the rain is when it rained, they rested their sore bottoms.
In the meantime Spain played the world-wide one, without Luis and Vero knew it, they had won. The one who was in charge to tell them it was a very lively French grandmother in a supermarket door, doing them glad with theatricalities and singing loudly the Madrid hymn…
Kind grandmothers who gave tomato juice, killer bees, calm grass, good people, food to buy at reasonable price in France and quite the opposite in Switzerland, are what you are going to find if you venture yourselves to repeat it.
